Romania is ready to join Schengen space, but the main vulnerable pints are related to infrastructure and a "serious" effort is needed from the Government to solve the issues, Romanian Interior and Administration minister Vasile Blaga said on Thursday, March 4, during the 2009 activity analysis.

"Romania is prepared to join the Schengen Space. The evaluation report on the maritime border indicate that certain measures adopted by Romania may be considered good practices", minister Vasile Blaga declared, quoted by Mediafax.

According to him, Romania benefits from one of the best maritime surveillance systems

The minister underlined, nevertheless, that the main vulnerable aspects relate to infrastructure. "Therefore, a serious effort is needed from the Government, because it is necessary to accelerate the rhythm of enforcing of all measures in order to join the Schengen Space."
