Romania's House of Deputies rejected on Tuesday a simple motion against Finance minister Sebastian Vladescu of the Democratic Liberal (PDL) government, which was signed by 51 Liberal MPs. The motion was rejected 143 votes against 130 with 6 abstentions.

The motion called minister Vladescu to present a draft rectified budget as the Government assumes responsibility for a series of austerity measures. The Liberals also accused the lack of economic performance of the current Government as well as the lack of vision and the inefficiency of announced austerity measures which, according to signatories, are meant to place a heavy burden on the shoulders of the Romanian people.

The simple motion against the Finance minister is the fifth such motion submitted by the opposition since the start of 2010.
