Mothers giving birth after January 1, 2011 will benefit from a 1 year maternal leave, Gandul reads. The newspaper reads that modifications will not be implemented to the current beneficiaries. According to the Prime Minister, mothers that will return to work will receive a return bonus of 500 lei and will be able to opt for a leave without payment for the next year.

The value of the maternal leave aid will remain unchanged. The decision follows a period of indecision in the governing coalition that had opposition views on the matter. Even the President declared that there are no money for a 2 year maternal leave.

In other countries, the maternal leave period and aid differ from Romania: in Austria, the first 16 weeks are paid by 100% then the leave can last between 1 to 3 years. The percentage of the salary decreases as the leave increases to reach an average of 436 euro for the maximum period.

In Bulgaria mothers receive a 1 year maternal leave with 100% of their salary followed by a second year when the minimum salary is offered.

Evenimentul Zilei reads about the government's approval of the 2011 state budget, together with the budget for social state insurance and the health budget. According to the Finance minister Gheorghe Ialomitianu, the budget was based on an economic increase of 1.5% with a budgetary deficit of 4.4% of the GDP.

According to the official, the overall spending on investments will be increased from 33.9 billion lei to 35.1 billion lei and the estimated number of jobs will increase by 23,000. The minister said that in 2-2011 employment to the budgetary state will be limited - 1 employee for 7 freed positions.

Romania libera reads that Romania's brand was launched in Germany last week, in an event organized at Munchen, a press release of the Tourism and Development ministry announced, quoted by the Romanian news agency Agerpres.

The main components of the brand were also presented - nature, culture, authenticity which resulted from various surveys conducted in the German market. According to the ministry, important actors of German tourism considered that Romania's new positioning has every chance to be well perceived by the German public.

They appreciated that the new approach is active, fresh and authentic which will most definetly attract more Germans.

Romania's tourism brand was launched on July 29 at the World Shanghai Exhibition 2010 with the slogan Romania - discover the Carpathian garden. The visual identity of the brand is sustained by a powerful graphic element anchored in nature and Romanian tradition - the leaf.
