In its first year as a EU member, Romania had a mediocre presence in Brussels and Strasbourg. Out of 35 Romanian members of the European Parliament (MEPs), only 8 may boast on their rich activity, 10 had a mediocre activity and 17 slept just as well as they do back home. Despite their poor participation, some intend to run for a new mandate.

n the first year, Romania had a mediocre presence in Brussels. Out of 35 Romanian members of the European Parliament (MEPs), only 8 may boast on their rich activity, 10 had a mediocre activity and 17 slept just as well as they do back home. Despite their poor participation, some intend to run for a new mandate.

The laziest Romanian MEPs were Liberal Silviu Busoi, Great Romania Party MEP Daniela Buruiana Aprodu, Social Democrats Vasile Dancu and Rovana Plumb, Hungarian Democrat Karoly Ferenc Szabo (PSD), while the busiest were Social Democrat Adrian Severin, Liberal Adina Ioana Valean, Social Democrats Silvia Adriana Ticau and Democrats Jean Marian Marinescu, Roberta Anastase and Monica Iacob Ridzi.

Out of the "lazy ones", some admit they "skipped classes", while other try to explain that they worked within the group or that the information on the official website doesn't present fairly the reality.

Besides simple questions and interventions in session, the activity of an European Parliamentarian includes complex actions, such as elaborating reports or table resolution drafts.
