A European Commission report evaluating the Romanian and Bulgarian justice systems will be presented this month, but a certain date has not been decided yet, EUexpands claims, quoting sources in Brussels.

However, the preliminary report will not present conclusions regarding the justice reform process in the two countries,. Any decision regarding a possible activation of a safeguard clause will be included in the EC June report in this regard.

Sources within the Commission say that the report analyzing the Romanian situation will be tough as Brussels officials do not find any improvement in the field. They argue that the report will even refer to drawbacks in the judicial system.

On the other hand, European officials argue that, if Bulgaria keeps up the good work, it can avoid the activation of a safeguard clause on justice issues.
