After Abkhazia and South Ossetia a third self-proclaimed republic from the former Soviet area, Transniester demands its independence be recognized internationally based on the so-called precedent created by Kosovo. The Kosovo precedent should be applicable to other territories that seek to proclaim independence, the Foreign Ministry in Tiraspol, the capital of the Transniester region east of the Moldovan Republic, has declared, quoted by Interfax.

Meanwhile, according to Interfax, Transniester would have an already established plan to proclaim its independence. According to the news agency, Transniester leaders presented a plan that would be pushed forward if Kosovo is eventually recognized as a fully fledged state.

The plan considers among others to take actions in order to consult and negotiate with other countries and mediators from the conflict solving process between Transniester and the Republic of Moldova. One of these countries is Russia, whose deputy PM Sergey Ivanov implied on Monday that the Kosovo independence proclamation would have a domino effect across the region.
