Romanian European Commissioner for Multilingualism, Leonard Orban told Romanian news television Realitatea TV on Saturday that the new version of the first car registration tax proposed by Bucharest authories has every chance of being approved by Euopean officials as it is compatible with the acquis communautaire. He argued that Romania is not threatened by any risks relating to the tax.

Orban says that had Romania failed to submit a new version of the tax, then our country would have been sued at the European Court of Justice. European Commissioner Orban argued that these explanations are purely personal and does not represent the opinion of the Commission.

Authorities took into account, when setting up the last version of the first car registration tax the pollution degree of non-Euro cars and the carbon gas emissions.
