Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci has declared that Romania would soon follow the example of other European Union member states and acknowledge the independence of Kosovo. He added that Kosovo's independence is a reality, as it was accepted by 40 counties and counting. Romania in his view is thus on the verge of accepting it as well. Moreover, in his view, Kosovo brings in the region stability, peace and prosperity, the Romanian public radio informs.

Thaci said he hoped Bucharest authorities would make the right decision in this regard. He denied, however, that the European Union or NATO will pressure states to accept Kosovo's independence. Three months ago, before the independence declaration, Thaci announced that 100 countries were ready to accept the new state. However, Kosovo is acknowledged only by 40.

Romanian President Traian Basescu has continuously declared that Romania would not acknowledge Kosovo as an independent state.
