Germany could demand the activation of the safeguard procedure for both Bulgaria and Romania if high corruption cases are not resolved, European Affairs Commission President Gunther Krichbaum declared, quoted by Rador.

Krichbaum declared that the Bundestag could mandate in the fall the German government to demand the European Council to activate the safeguarding clause against both Romania and Bulgaria.

For now, the German official recognized that Romania looks a lot better than Bulgaria. However, he warns that if the Romanian Parliament continues to block high corruption cases the Commission will take serious actions.
