Gazprom vice president Aleksander Medvedev declared on Tuesday that the company is willing to negotiate with an Ukrainian delegation a new treaty for gas delivery through pipelines crossing the former Soviet republic, ITAR-TASS informs.

"I am sure that a plausible solution for both parties may be identified in a short time", said Medvedev while in London, during his European tour.

On Monday, Russian PM Vladimir Putin demanded Gazprom to reduce the gas deliveries via Ukraine, in order to prevent the gas theft. Russia has been accusing Ukraine of gas theft and unpaid debts since 1992.
