Four Romanians, accused of raping an Italian woman in a town near Rome, were arrested on Tuesday. Corriere della Sera reads that the Italian police officers protected the four suspects when faced with the violent Italian citizens who tried to do their own justice.

The four suspects, aged 20 to 23, were caught because authorities managed to track the mobile telephone the four took from the woman. They are accused of raping a 21 young girl from Guidonia, after they beat her boyfriend.

Another two Romanians are suspected as accomplices. Some dozens Italian citizens gathered at the police headquarters to protest against the Romanians.
