Captain Petre Tiberius was killed in an armed confrontation in Afghanistan, during a military intervention near Kabul, the Romanian Defense Ministry announced on Friday morning.
The Romanian officer was a member of the "Eagles" Special Operations Battalion. Around 04.00h (Romania time), a Romanian - American joint team was deployed some 80 kilometers South-West of Kabul, in order to support the allied units engaged in confrontation.
During the shooting, captain Petre Tiberius was shot, dying during the flight to the hospital.
Petre Tiberius is the tenth Romanian military who dies in Afghanistan.
