400 Romanian temporary workers were sent back home from Germany, German daily Die Welt informs, quoting local police sources. The newspaper reads that the Romanian were offered false contracts to temporary work on an asparagus plantation for which they paid 50 euro each to the intermediary and another 110 euro for transports.

Once they arrived at an asparagus plantation in Kirchdorf, the owner told them that the contracts were not set up at his request. To prevent any other complications, the local police intervened with 30 people.

The man who mediated the contracts and was escorting the workers was retained for questioning. The investigation tries to establish whether the German legislation was breached as well.
