The Danube 2 bridge connecting Romania and Bulgaria at Vidin-Calafat, South of the border will be ready on time, Bulgarian PM Serghei Stanisev declared, quoted by Novinite. Stanisev visited the constructions area on the Bulgarian side to witness the progress.

The bridge will be finished by the end of 2010 and Stanisev assured that there will be no delays. However, he declared that Romanian authorities lag behind when it comes to their part of the deal. Romania and Bulgaria signed an agreement for the construction of the bridge linking Calafat and Vidin 2000 and the total costs of the project was estimated at 225,8 million euro.

The bridge will measure 1971 meters and will be part of the European transports corridor linking Dresda to Istanbul.
