Romanian tennis player Victor Hanescu qualified in Wimbledon's second round after a dramatic match against Spanish Ivan Navarro (number 68 in the world). Hanescu imposed by 12-10 in the last set, after the Spanish secured a 7-6 in his favor. Romanian Victor Crivoi also qualified for the second round, as he won the match against German Bjorn Phau.

Ranked 31, Hanescu had a good start in the first set but the Spanish managed to gain some ground in the second set. The last set was not only decisive, but also proved dramatic: Hanescu managed to take control of the game.

In the second round, Hanescu will meet French Nicolas Devilder, number 96 in the world.
