Unemployment rates in the euro zone registered 9.5% in May, a record rate since May 1999, the European statistics institute Eurostat informs, quoted by AFP. In one month alone, the unemployment rates rose by 273,000 in the euro zone to a total of 15.013 million euro.

In April, unemployment rates registered 9.3% in the 16 countries part of the euro zone, according to Eurostat data. Overall, at the level of the union, the unemployment rate was 8.9% in May, a record rate since 2005.
