Romania registered the highest inflation rate in the EU, of 5.0% according to the European statistics institute, Eurostat. At the level of the Union, the inflation rate was of 0.2% while in the euro zone, the deflation was 0.7%.

Romania is closely followed by Hungary with 4.9%, Poland with 4.5%. On the other side of the spectrum, Ireland registered -2.6% while Belgium -1.7% and Luxembourg -1.7%.

Compared to the previous month, the annual inflatin rate dropped in 20 countries, stagnated in one and increased in five. According to the Romanian National Statistics Institute, Romania's annual inflation rate registered 5.06% in July after marking a level of 5.86% in June.
