Romania's consulates across the world might be closed on Monday, starting at 4:30 pm, as a protest against the latest version of the unique salary scheme law, union representative Valeriu Smadu declared on Friday for the Romanian news agency NewsIn. Romania's Foreign Affairs ministry informed that consulates will have the usual schedule.

Smadu declared that he will start negotiations with Minister Cristian Diaconescu and if negotiations will fail, consulates will cease their activity on Monday. He explained that Foreign Affairs ministry employees are dissatisfied with the latest version of the unique salary scheme law which rules that the ministry will dissolve the general consul function.
