After occupying the first position in the EU in a top inflation rate for several months, Romania was outclassed in August by Hungary with 5%. On third, Poland is ranked by 4.3% and at the level of the EU, Eurostat data reveals, for August, that the inflation rate ranks at 0.6% from 0.2% in July.

In the euro zone, the inflation rate was -0.2%, registering an increase compared to July with -0.6%. For the first time, the inflation was zero in May in the euro zone, compared with the similar period, last year reaching a historical decrease, European statistical office informs.

Romania maintained the first place with the highest inflation rate up to August but the values of the indicator dropped constantly from 5.9% in May to 4.9% in August.
