In Romania health public spending (4.5% of GDP in 2008) represents just half of the average spending budget in the other EU countries (7.3% of GDP). This year, Romania reserved the smallest budget for health in the last nine years: just 3.2%.

In these conditions, specialists wonder if we can consider medical care valuable in Romania. Compared to Romania, Bulgaria allocated 3.8% of GDP budget this year. This year, Romania lost five positions in the Health European Index and was classed on 32 out of 33 European countries considered with 489 points of a total of 1000.
