US Embassy announced on Wednesday that USA offers for use 60 armored vehicles to the Romanian terrestrial troops in Afghanistan. In a press release of the American diplomatic mission, it reads that the first 40 vehicles will arrive in Afghanistan shortly and the other 20 will arrive in the Fall. After check up, the vehicles will be turned over to the Romanians to be used on ground operations and for training.
We want to make sure that all our allied partners are well protected and Romania is a ferm ally of the US, Romanian troops will fight with us in the Zabul area and other dangerous areas from Afghanistan, US Ambassador Mark Gitenstein declared.
Just like in Iraq, the US makes substantial efforts to support all partner countries in the operations and supplement technical equipment and means of protection. The vehicles aims to protect soldiers against field mines or ambushes.
