Most guns used by criminal organizations in Mexico were brought from the United States, a report on gun smuggling set up by the San Diego University reveals, quoted by Latin American Herald Tribune. According to the document two of the most important guns that reach, illegally, Mexican cartels through the US are the AK-47 gunds and AR-15, both made in Romania.

The report reveals that weapons smuggling continues to thrive despite efforts of the US to put an end to this phenomenon. Guns are used by Mexican cartels against police officers who often times have less arms than felons do.
