A huge scandal broke in Hungary, after Romanian officials obtained the permission of the National Theatre in Hungary to hold celebrations marking Romania's National Day on December 1st, Hungariaambiance.com reads. Several Hungarian politicians and important political figures consider the gesture of Romanians a defiance because December 1st for Hungarians marks the loss of Transilvania in 1918 to Romania.

Shortly after the news appeared in the press, important figures in Hungary started talking about Romania's gesture of dediance. Politicians declared at their turn that the National Theatre is a public institution and that the state is responsible for it.

According to the Hungarian blog, quoting MTI, the authorization to Romanians to celebrate national day at the Hungarian National Theatre was withdrawn. The governing coalition urged the executive to investigate the issue and lay off the head of the cultural institution for his decision.
