Romania and Bulgaria will lose 27.5 million euro from Schengen funds as the Commission was urged by the European Parliament to decrease funds due to the incapacity of the two countries to use all funds. The European Commission cannot confirm the information, EC Spokesperson Michele Cercone declared for HotNews.ro. She underlined that there will be no unspent funds of the program. Cercone said that by the end of the year the EC will know for sure the statistics.
Romania took advantage of 602 million euro from this program. Romanian Foreign Affairs minister declared on Tuesday that 99% of the Schengen money were spent.
