A Romanian housekeeper spent two years and eight months in detention in Italy even though it was innocent. The appellate court cancelled her 14 years sentence for killing the old lady she was working for, after doctors established that she died of natural causes, Il Messaggero reads, quoted by the Romanian news agency Mediafax.

According to the website Direttanews.it, Romanian Vasilica Adriana I., aged 41 was sentenced to 14 years to prison for the murder of Paola Iori, aged 81 in January 2008. The Romanian housekeeper was accused that she pushed the old lady down the stairs and suffocated her. However, the Appellate Court established that the old lady died of a heart attack.
