The European Commission opened on Wednesday a new infringement procedure against Romania, given the problems found in tracing the calls towards the 112 universal emergency number, an EC press release informs.

At the same time, the Commission opened the second stage of procedures against Romania for first registration tax imposed on vehicles, the next step being directly to bring the Romanian state in the European Court of Justice.

The Commission decided on Wednesday to open a lawsuit against Poland and Latvia for the malfunctions in the 112 emergency call system.
