The movie directed by Romanian rising star Cristian Mungiu, 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days received the Best Foreign Film award from the L.A Film Critics Association on Sunday, Reuters reports.

Vlad Ivanov, the actor playing one of the main characters in the film - a doctor performing an abortion - received the award for the best supporting actor.

Reuters adds that the awards granted by the L.A Film Critics Association are very important for the studio campaign trying to push their movies for the Oscar award. However, movies receiving the L.A award have rarely won the Oscar.
