The diplomatic relations between Romania and the Republic of Moldova were not so fortunate in 2007 as diplomatic talks often resulted in harmful statements in both countries, Romanian Foreign minister Adrian Cioroianu admitted in a press conference reviewing his Ministry's 2007 results on Tuesday. Thus, for 2008, Cioroianu plans to better the relations with the Republic of Moldova by portraying a wise and open diplomatic policy.

Cioroianu said that there were many problems and things to do that await a sound solution for further development. In order to support the progress of the Republic of Moldova, Romania stimulated the dialogue between the EU and Moldova.

Cioroianu declared that Romania would support Moldova to tighten its relations with the European Union as a pathway towards a consolidation of democracy. The minister assured that consular facilities would improve to facilitate a better communication and provide for the needs of Moldovan citizens.

Moreover, Cioroianu underlined that for 2008, the Republic of Moldova will receive several development projects from the Official Development Assistance, managed by the Romanian Foreign Ministry.
