The "Pe o margine de lume" song (On the edge of world), by Nico and Vlad Mirita, was chosen to represent Romania in the Eurovision finales in Belgrade, on May 23. Since last year's Romanian candidate ("Liubi, Liubi, I Love You", by Todomondo) did not reach one of the top ten places, Romania must now pass the first round of selection this year, in order to participate in the finals.
The song was chosen this year by a jury (50%) and hot-line voting (50%). During the voting process, Serb star Goran Bregovic sustained an excellent concert, along with his Wedding and Funeral Orchestra.
As it happens almost every year, the winning song was accused of plagiarism, several voices indicating similarities with "La Magia del Corazon", by David Bustamante.
