A Romanian official who remained anonymous declared in a deposition published by Washington Post that he witnessed suspect maneuvers on the Mikhail Kogalniceau airport, which became since then the first US airbase in Romania. According to the official, airplanes came in for repairing, but were never repaired, instead packages that seems like well-wrapped men were seen in the plane, accompanied by CIA agents. The operations always took place at 1:00h.

The official emphasizes the fact that all similar scenes took place in total disagreement with the protocol rules on the Mikhail Kogalniceanu airbase. He says he witnessed 5 such scenes, three in 2004 and two in 2005.

The testimony the Romanian officials offered Associated Press, which was quoted by the electronic edition of Washington Post, comes only one day after the European Commission once again demanded Romania to offer information on any possible terrorism suspect transfer or detaining.

President Traian Basescu declared he has no knowledge of any suspect packages being transferred on the Kogalniceanu airport and reminds that the base was opened for visits by Romanian and foreign journalists. Liberal senator Norica Nicolai, who conducted the Parliamentarian investigation on the CIA flights, declared on Sunday that the investigation of the latest data belongs to public authorities.
