The Government reduced the spending with 1.1 billion euro, rectifying the public budget during its session on Wednesday. The largest sums were cut from the Defense, Agriculture, Education and Health ministries. Economy Minister Varujan Vosganian announced that the cuts reduced the budget deficit for 2008 from 2.75 to 2.3% of the GNP.
Vosganian said that the main cuts will be operated in: Defense - 800 million RON, Agriculture - 450 million RON, Health - 433 million RON, Education - 200 million RON, Environment - 190 million RON. Lower budget cuts took place in : Economy - 136 million RON, Transport - 100 million RON, Development - 60 million RON.
The spending reducing is intended as a positive signal for investors and international institutions.
