An unidentified person announced in late afternoon on Monday that a bomb was placed within the compounds of the Cotroceni Palace in Bucharest - the official headquarters of the Romanian presidency, security service spokesperson Bogdan Onea has said. According to Onea, the call was made from Teolorman county and was shortly proven to be a false alarm.

The alarm was unlikely to be real as long as the Presidential residency is highly secured and supervised by security officers. Romanian monitoring agency Rador quotes inside sources arguing that anything that enters the residency is double checked by security filters.
