A law draft at the Economy Ministry aims at the forming of a natural gas Social Fund, with the two main natural gas operators, Petrom and Romgaz, participating in the Fund as sponsors. The first position is that large companies should involve in social responsibility programs. In fact, HotNews.ro found that the contributions of the two companies to the Fund will be deducted from the tax on profit, therefore the State will be, in the end, the one paying for the Fund, transforming the "social responsibility" action into an electoral move.
The State already paid "heating aid" for 850,000 poor beneficiaries. Petrom and Romgaz are the only companies on the natural gas market which accepted to involve in the project. The Economy Ministry boasted one year and a half ago that the Fund has private financing.
