NATO officials face a delicate day today as they will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, France Presse reads. Today subjects like NATO's expansion, Kosovo's independence or the American missile shield or Moscow giving up the Treaty on European Conventional Forces are on the agenda.

The French news agency notes that the overall atmosphere of the talks depends solely on Putin's choice who can reiterate his attacks on NATO's expansion or moderate the situation, six years after the creation of the NATO Russian Council, the forum which frames the cooperation of Western countries with Russia.

This is the first time the Russian President Vladimir Putin attends the Council. Kremlin officials declared that Putin will address these problems on a positive way and will try to avoid most sensitive discussion on Kosovo or the American missile shield.
