A 50-year old man from Cluj, NW Romania has kept his mother's dead body at home for three years in order to continue cashing her pension. The grim discovery was made on Tuesday night as the man went to the police to report on the death of his mother, who died three years ago at the age of 70, according to Romanian news channels.
Upon arriving at the man's place, the police found the mummified body of the woman. The son said that his mother's pension of 1,500 RON (some 400 euro) was his only income, which made him opt not to declare her death for so long.
The police has launched an investigation to establish the cause of death while the son has to reimburse the illegally cashed money and may face charges.
