The National Authority for Energy Regulation (ANRE) announced on Thursday that the prices will grow 12.5% for natural gas and 4.4% for electricity, compared to the current price, starting on July 1.

ANRE officials say the price growth is necessary, in order to endure the normal functioning of the interior market and for putting up the winter stocks.

Natural gas distribution companies E.ON Gaz Romania and Distrigaz Sud demanded, a few weeks ago, a 25% price growth for natural gas deliveries towards domestic households. In 2007, in all Europe, the price for natural gas increased 25% and a similar growth is expected in 2008.

The last price growth accepted by ANRE was 3.95% for electricity (in 2007) and 8.5% for natural gas (in February 2008).
