Romania's Health ministry attempts to legalize abortions up to 24 weeks for girls under 15-years old. The decision comes after authorities confronted with the case of the 11-year old girl who got pregnant after being sexually abused by her uncle, Romanian news television Realitatea TV informs.

Thus, the ministry proposes a law which rules that minor adolescents could undertake an abortion up to a 24 week pregnancy but only under the care of specialist doctors and in well-equipped sanitary units.

According to the draft law, any pregnancy up to the age of 15 is considered a risky one. Thus, the doctor found in such a situation should notify the hospital's management and the Health ministry. Specialists will set up a special committee to take all decision on the case.

However, doctor Dorin Drimbarean declared that such an intervention is very risky and Romanian Parliamentarians failed to consider all the consequences of such interventions if legalized. He added that the draft law should not pass.
