Former Conservative Party President, Dan Voiculescu confirmed, during official hearings in June - July 2006 at CNSAS, the independent body studying the archives of Communist-era secret police, the Securitate that he used to offer information about the foreign citizens he met in exchange of money. The Bucharest Tribunal will rule whether Voiculesc collaborated with the Securitate structures.

However, Voiculescu declared, quoted by NewsIn that he was obliged to offer information about all foreign citizens that he interacted with. He declared that he never gave out information that hurt them.

The businessman added that he did not have any official agreement with the Securitate structures and he was questioned randomly about the foreigners he met. He declared that he does not consider to have offered consistent information but only personal opinions.
