The heavy rain that hit North Romania last night caused serious damages: several towns are flooded and dozens of households are isolated by floods. Authorities decided to evacuate people for safety reasons. Romanian news television Realitatea TV informs that record numbers were registered: some 80 liters/sq meters fell in a few hours.

Roads were closed because several connecting bridges were affected by floods. In Suceava, North Romania more neighborhoods were flooded. Police forces restricted traffic in the area and trucks are forbidden.

UPDATE: Romania's National Meteorology Administration decided to extend the yellow code warning alert until Saturday, July 26, 12 pm due to the heavy rain that hit the Northern part of the country. Meteorologists announced that the warning targets mainly counties in North Romania.

Authorities issued a flood red alert code for Suceava, Siret and Moldova rivers in North Romania and an orange alert for Viseu, Tisa and Prut rivers, in the same region. Floods affected 72 cities in six counties, 318 people were evacuated from their houses while one man was found dead.

Floods affected some 1,061 housesholds, 639 fountains, 54 km of national roads, 173 km of local roads, 162 bridges, 646 acres of arable land. 127 cities do not have electricity.
