The government will offer financial compensation to flood victims, Romania's President Traian Basescu declared in a visit to those cities severely affected by the recent floods. Basescu added that the idea was sustained by the Economy minister, Varujan Vosganian.
The president emphasized that what matters now is the solidarity displayed by authorities in relation to the flood victims. Moreover, he declared that people should donate clothes, shoes and household electronics rather than water or food cans.
