South Ossetia President, Eduard Kokoiti solicited that his state be part of Russia, Russian news agency RIA Novosti informs quoted by AFP. Kokoiti declared that his country is divided and that the best solution would be that South Ossetia joins North Ossetia, the South West Russian region.

A real war unfolded between Russians and Georgians right after Georgian authorities attacked the separatist groups in South Ossetia. As a response, Russian troops retaliated by bombing various cities in Georgia.

Georgia claims that South Ossetia is an integral part of its territory while authorities in South Ossetia claim that the region is independent ever since the early 1990s.
