Liberal vice president Teodor Melescanu declared in an interview for NewsIn, that a governmental ordinance freezing all salaries - except for those already increased - may be expected, in case the populist measures decided in the Parliament come into force. "The danger represented by the growth beyond control of wages, when there are no sources to sustain the growth, must be taken into account. If not, an ordinance for freezing all salaries - except those already approved, may be expected", said Melescanu.

The Government sent the law approving a 50% of teachers' salaries to the Constitutional Court on Thursday.

Melescanu described the populist measures as a "mortgage on the future development of the country". "With an 8% economic growth and an inflation prognosis of 3%, the salaries should have grown 11%", said Melescanu.
