One of Romania's greatest actresses, Dina Cocea, died on Monday night in an emergency room in Bucharest, because of a lung infection. Aged 96, Dina Cocea played in more than 100 theatre plays and 10 movies. Her début was in Paris, in 1934, the first play in Romania came in 1935, the Comedy Theatre, in "The true Jacob". The first movie was "A night to remember" (1939).

Born in 1912, Dina Cocea studied acting in Paris and returned to Romania to become a worshiped star. In 1941, she became manager of "Our Theatre" (Teatrul Nostru), until 1949. Between 1952 and 1962, she was dean of the Theatre School in Bucharest, then moved to represent Romania at the United Nations and UNESCO events.
