Social Democrats decided on Monday to withdraw the political support of their Interior minister, Gabriel Oprea after he named four state secretaries without the approval of the party. PSD leader Mircea Geoana declared that they will forward a new proposal for the seat and added that the permanent office of the party took the decision with only two abstaining votes.

Several Social Democratic leaders declared that their colleague, Interior minister Oprea acted responsibly and the nomination was made solely based on the person's professional achievements. However, PSD Bucharest President Marian Vanghelie declared that Oprea did not announce his party intentionally.
