Romanian Foreign Affairs minister Cristian Diaconescu declared for the Parliamentary Foreign Affairs Commission that Moldovan authorities have no limits whatsoever by infringing free circulation rights through the introduction of visas for Romanians and expelling Romanian journalists.

According to Mediafax, Cristian Diaconescu presented an overview of the situation in the Republic of Moldova: over three hundred youngsters were arrested without any explanation. Free movement rights was breached through the introduction of visas for Romanians and all Romanian journalists in Moldova were expelled after were initially detained by police forces.

Diaconescu referred to Voronin's declarations regarding Romania's involvement in Moldova's protests against the Communists declaring that the Romanian government did not answer and will refuse to answer to such declarations.

All participants in the extraordinary session agreed that the situation in Moldova represents a European issue and the EU needs to treat it as such.
