Two young men represent Romania at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2009 (ISEF 2009), the most important Computer Science competition for pre-university students. The two Romanian students compete for a 50.000 USD award.

Dan Andrei Ruse and Cosmin Gorgovan, who study at the International Informatics High School from Bucharest, participate in the Computer Science category. Their project, Open Hexapod, is a six-legged robot with a mobile arm, equipped with a video camera and coordinated through an Intel Atom processor notebook. The robot is packed with sensors and cam move and spin. The Romanian students’ project is supervised by their Informatics teacher Ali Yuksel and aims to be a starting point in the strategy for robot programming.

1.500 students, ranging from 56 countries, compete this year in the 17 categories opened by ISEF 2009. The competition is taking place in Reno, USA, from the 11th to the 15th of May. Click here if you want to learn more about ISEF 2009.
