Japanese Company Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems (SEWS) will close one of its two plants from Poland this autumn and will move its cable production to Romania, according to www.evertiq.com. SEWS already has three factories in Romania, based in Alba Iulia, Deva and Orastie.

SEWS Polska will shut down the factory from Rawicz region, where it presently manufactures cables for Toyota. The entire production will be transferred to Romania. SEWS will keep the Leszno Polish plant functional.

The Rawicz factory employs 1.200 people. One quarter of the plant’s employees will be transferred to the remaining Polish plant, where there currently work 1.000 people.

SEWS got over 4.000 de employees working in Romania for the three plants, producing cables for Honda and Toyota.
