The French government decided to keep the swine flu at level 5, despite World Health Organisatiom labelling the virus on Thursday with 6, the maximum level, AFP informs.

French minister of Health Roselyne Bachelot said a group of experts convoked on the issue confirmed unanimously that the situation does not imply a 5B or 6 level. "The virus does not have an active circulation in France", the minister added.

According to French Minister of Health, the end of April saw 80 swine flu cases, out of which 68 were recorded in persons who travelled in the areas affected by the virus. The other 12 regarded the persons who came in contact with the contaminated cases.

The virus is highly transmitted in Mexico, USA, Australia, and Japan.
