The French investment fund AGF Private Equity will pour two million euros into the online political and economic game, eRepublik, created by Romanian George Lemnaru and French Alexis Bonte. The money will be used to develop the game, which already has 120,000 active users.

The French fund invested 200,000 euros in eRepublik Labs last year, the Irish company that supports the game. This year's investment will help eRepublik to develop the technical side.

Romanian George Lemnaru, who founded eRepublik, backed financially by French Alexis Bonte, referred to the investment by saying that the game has endless development possibilities and it is based on the user generated content.

eRepublik has 300,000 virtual citizens, with 120,000 being very active users. The website saw 3.7 million visits and was listed 95 million times in May, 2009.

The online game is free and simulates the political, economic, military and social realities.
