Former President Ion Iliescu is no longer investigated in the June 13-15 1990s miners outbreak, Romanian news agency NewsIn informs. Other important personalities of the time, like former Romanian Intelligence Service chief Virgil Magureany, former Interior minister Mihai Chitac and former Defense minister Victor Stanculescu were also removed from the file.

Iliescu was accused of war propaganda, genocide, inhuman treatment and complicity to torture. However, prosecutors were not able to find conclusive evidence of these felonies.
